Welcome to Bourton Roadrunners Website

Bourton Roadrunners' Members' Library

We are collating the data to enable us to build a member-focused library, recording club records, competition winners and a 'hall of fame', recording the many representative honours that club members have achieved since the club was formed. At the time of writing we are trying to locate the official record book.

Many thanks to everyone - runners & supporters - who made the ‘mob match’ with Cirencester AC, 25th July, a great success. Congratulations to Cirencester; this time!

Team Nutrition. Steve Edwards has negotiated with Team Nutrition on behalf of Bourton Roadrunners' members a 15% discount on orders of its natural-based nutrition and hydration products. We are able to obtain this discount (and possibly avoid postage & packing) by ordering via Steve, who will seek to 'bulk' orders on our behalf.

Team Nutrition has a considerable pedigree, having developed products for a number of major sporting events, including the 2000 and 2004 Olympic games. Read about the product range and deal on offer and download a price list (which shows the full retail prices). If you have any queries please feel free to discuss these with , who has considerable experience of the product range and their benefits.

We are starting to put together a comprehensive members' photo library, representing the activities, achievements and history of Bourton Roadrunners. If you are able to contribute to this photographic collection please let us know. In the meantime, visit the library and enjoy what we have made available.

Further to the recently reported achievements of Norm Lane and Chris Bence in their marathon majors quest, Steve Edwards was formally presented with his certificate the Guinness World Record. Steve was very happy to concede the marathon majors record to his fellow club members , as he was a little busy setting another record at the time! See the photo below.

We are building a library of club newletters and past results from our club races.   Our latest newsletter for July 2010 is available as a PDF (portable document files) to download.   If you do not already have a copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader, which is used to read these files, the latest version is available for free at:

The May edition of e-Inspire is worth a look.

For those of you wishing to track the progress of Dr Kate Evans, who heads the charity Elephants for Africa, can read the latest edition of their newsletter - Elephant Tails - or read their blog. Kate and her partner Simon trained with us last year, mainly through the cold winter months pior to emigrating to Botswana, are currently experiencing high temperatures and are longing for the rains! As they note, it is not only the humans that feel it, the elephants are all looking a little skinny and a little hot under the collar, the rains will bring the fresh grasses they need to bulk up again.

Current Matters

Dates for your diary:
Thursday 5th August - We want to produce a ‘club photo’ so please try to be at the Cotswold School for training as usual, but bring your club top.
Wednesday 18th August - We have invited Tewkesbury AC to a return training evening at Bourton following their kind hospitality.

Steve Edwards again took on the Brathay 10 Marathons in 10 Days Challenge; not for the feint-hearted. You find out how Steve got on our site or visit his JustGiving site.

Read about the recent Bud Baldaro training evening organised specially for Bourton Roadrunners, at Cheltenham's Prince of Wales stadium. There is a nice selection of photos too.

Keep up to date with the Club's 6-from-10 competition for 2010.

Steve Edwards reaches 500 marathons, and a step nearer his long-term challenge of achieving 500 sub-3:30 marathons by 2012. Steve hopes to establish the blistering world record by April/ May 2012. This will require one every 12-13 days through to May 2012!

The Members' Library is designed to supplement the highly successful and informative Club Newsletter.   If you would like to influence what we display here please let me know.
