MBNA Chester Marathon - 8th October 2017

A busy weekend for Bourton Roadrunners included Susan Hunt donning the England team shirt having qualified to compete for the England Masters Marathon team last autumn. The team will took on a Celtic Nations team at the Chester Marathon. Susan suffered from cramp from 16 miles but that didn’t dampen her smile or her determination to finish the course.

Club Trip Kiev, Ukraine - 6th to 11th October 2017

Over in Kiev, on the Club’s annual overseas trip, 4 Bourton Roadrunners competed. Mike Smith showed a return to form coming 3rd in his age group in the half marathon in a time of 1:21:48. Martha Carrick, shaved a minute off her time at Cheltenham the week before coming home in 1:54:57 with Linda Edwards close behind in 2:00.55. Lynn Hudson elected to compete in the Kiev 10k finishing in a time of 1:00:51.

Royal Parks Half Marathon, London - 8th October 2017

At the Royal Parks half marathon in London, Amy Hallam and Janet Duffey each ran their first half marathon raising money for Cancer Research and Bloodwise respectively. On a very crowded course, both ran really well with Amy finishing in 2:01:31 and Janet in 2:06:28.

Susan Hunt does herself and the club proud in her England vest at Chester Marathon.

Mike Smith led home Bourton’s team in the half marathon, 20th overall and 3rd MV40, in 1:21:48. There were 1782 finishers.

Martha was next in in 1:54:57; she only ran her first half a week before at Cheltenham - Kiev was 2 minutes quicker!

Linda Edwards narrowly missed going under 2 hours, finishing 5th LV50.

Lyn Hudson finished 2nd LV60 in the 10k race.

Amy Hallam and Janet Duffey both shine in their first half marathon, at the Royal Parks Half, London.
