National Schools Finals & Chedworth Roman Trail Races

National Schools Finals - Manchester 20th March

It has been an extremely busy weekend for Bourton Roadrunners, with 5 juniors getting through to the National Schools Finals in Manchester on Saturday, running for Gloucestershire.

Corrie Cox excelled, as 1st Gloucestershire Junior Girl to finish in 59th position with a time of 10:48, as did Beth Pudifoot, 2nd Glos in 14:49 in the Inter-Girls. In the same race Beth Wynn finished 5th Glos for 16:06. Conor Shoemark, this time in the Inter-Boys was placed 6th Glos in 21:49 with Lewis Gray 8th Glos Senior Boy in 28:27.

Chedworth Roman Trail 10 Mile X/C Race - 21st March

Fortunately the next day the rain cleared for the Chedworth Roman Trail 10 Mile X/C Race, although the previous day's rain made conditions extremely slippery. With entries of almost 400, the first 3 Bourton men were just one point off the winning team; Mike Smith 9th overall and 2nd MV40 in 1:05:18, Ewen Smith in amazing form for 10th in 1:05:59 and a very tired legged Lewis Gray, having raced the day before, 26th in 1:11.

Sarah Harper, the first Bourton lady, was pleased with her 1:16:17 in 65th place.

Other finishers were Mike Pudifoot 1:17:48, Andy McCoombes 1:19:17, Nigel Frith 1:22:51, Jan Short 1:32:56, Susan Hunt 1:37:15 and Gill Carrick 1:38:41. As the 2nd of the Club Championship races, valuable points were recorded for the above, with Ewen Smith still leading the competition.
