Well Run Dunkertons 5k - 25th June 2025

Local runners were spoilt for choice this week with several events on offer. On Wednesday evening three Bourton Roadrunners joined just over 100 others for the Well Run Dunkertons 5Km, at Charlton Kings. This series aims at encouraging runners of all abilities, promoting good mental wellbeing for all.

Bourton’s Iain Cox led the trio home, weaving through beautiful woodlands and climbs, completing the 5Km undulating route in 27 minutes and 43 seconds, with Iain finishing MV60/2. He was followed by Jennifer Goodwin in 32:01 and Iain’s wife Claire in 32:19.

Gloucester 10k - 29th June 2025

On Sunday Claire Carroll and Louise Hamilton-Smith took-on the Gloucester 10Km as part of their preparation for this year’s Berlin Marathon. With over 850 runners, this ever-popular event saw Louise just edging ahead in 57 minutes and 23 seconds, while Claire ran well, returning from injury, in 58:56.

Thame 10k - 29th June 2025

Meanwhile, Michela Sartori opted for the Thame 10Km, which attracted almost 900 runners. Michela found the going hard at times, but highly recommended the event, putting her 54 minutes and 15 seconds down to lack of training.

Race for Life 10K - 29th June 2025

This weekend also saw a number of Race for Life 10Km events, showcasing thousands of personal stories, with many groups of friends running together. At Cheltenham Dorcas Guillebaud was running her first-ever 10Km, where she was thrilled to finish in 78 minutes and 24 seconds. She was joined by Izzy Lane who was running with one of her clients, Lettie, finishing in 73:52.

Kaz Dean opted for the Oxford event, where despite the heat she thoroughly enjoyed the experience, finishing in 82:53.

Parkrun - 28th June 2025

No weekend would be complete without parkrun, and Bourton Roadrunners were out in support at the following venues:

Chipping Norton School: Ian Shoemark - 21:24 (VM55/1), Niamh Shoemark - 22:27 (VW55/1 and second female overall), Lee Hutton - 24:56 (VM65/2), Jenny Evanson - 38:22.
Grove Fields, Wantage: Claire Louise Carroll - 28:13 (VW60/2), Louise Hamilton-Smith - 29:17 (VW45/2 and course PB).
King George V Playing Field, Cheltenham: Chris Dry - 32:08.
Market Bosworth Country Park: Susan Hunt - 28:18 (VW60/2).
Stratford-upon-Avon: George Swayne - 18:48 (SM18/1), Iain Cox - 22:11 (VM60/3), Claire L Cox - 25:14 (VW45/2).
Witney: Tom Knight - 32:01, Giles Canning - 32:01 (course PB).

Highlights

This week Bourton Roadrunners were in action at the Well Run Dunkertons 5Km, Gloucester 10Km, Thame 10Km, Race for Life 10Km, and parkrun.

Congratulations to Dorcas Guillebaud was running her first-ever 10Km, at Cheltenham Race for Life. Also to recently new joiner Kaz Dean at the Oxford Race for Life.
