Newport Marathon - 28th April 2024

In the week following this year’s London Marathon, Bourton Roadrunners’ members have been seeking our further challenges, including Danny Hannig who travelled to South Wales for the Newport Marathon.

Danny achieved his second fastest marathon in a time of two hours, 57 minutes and 10 seconds, with a top-5% finish in a field of 2000 runners; absolutely brilliant Danny.

Bluebell Challenge - 23rd April 2024

Steph Holton, Claire Carroll and Allie Quinn tested themselves at the Bluebell Challenge, held at Hartshill Hayes Country Park in Nuneaton. The aim of the event, part of the Big Bear Challenge series, was to complete as many 5km laps as they could within a six-hour period.

Steph finished fourth overall and was second woman, having managed to achieve 11 laps (32.5 miles), while Claire and Allie completed 6 laps (17.7 miles). The organisers said that it wasn’t just the toughest race that they organise, this year’s event was made even harder due to the amount of mud to contend with. Despite this, the trio really enjoyed it.

Santa Maria del Cedro - 25th April 2024

Meanwhile, Tom & Coral Hill took part in a 7.5Km race in Santa Maria del Cedro, a town within the province of Cosenza, Calabria, Italy. This annual event is held in celebration of Italy’s Independence Day, providing a very hilly course and was held in hot conditions.

Tom finished in 39 minutes 17 seconds, while Coral achieved 54:59, both finishing first within their respective age categories. Everyone was rewarded with free pasta and wine for all upon completion.
