UK Transplant Games - Sunday 9th August 2026
Bourton Roadrunners’ Lee Hutton was in action this week at the UK Transplant Games at Sheffield. Lee was looking to add to the gold medal that he won in the 5Km road race at the European Transplant Games in June this year in the male vet-70 category.
Lee’s performance was exactly on-point, winning gold in all three of his age-category track events: at 200 metres in 36.08 seconds; 400 metres in one minute 24 seconds; and the 1500 metres in 6 minutes and 58 seconds.
Lee already holds a gold medal at 1500 metres from last year's World Transplant Games at Dresden in Germany.
Dorney Lake Olympic Distance Triathlon - Saturady 8th August 2026
On Saturday Bourton’s multi-discipline athlete Maxine Emes took part in the Dorney Lake Olympic Distance Triathlon. Commencing with a 1500 metre open-water swim, which Maxine completed in 26 minutes and 15 seconds, followed by a 40Km bike race (67 minutes and 21 seconds) and rounded-off by a 10Km run (47 minutes and 41 seconds).
Maxine’s strong performance earned her third-place in her age-category and 44th overall, in a superb total time of two hours, 24 minutes 52 seconds including transitions.
Burnham Beeches 10K - Sunday 9th August 2026
The following day, Maxine’s partner Darren Long gave an equally strong performance at the Burnham Beeches 10K, where he was first in the male-vet 50 category and 18th overall from a field of 544 finishers, in a time of 41 minutes and 0 seconds.
Newbury Racecourse Half Marathon - Sunday 9th August 2026
Also racing on Sunday, which turned out to be another very hot day, Louise Colwyn took-on the challenge of the Newbury Racecourse Half Marathon. Comprising multiple laps and virtually no shade, Louise was using the event as part of her marathon training schedule, finishing the 21.1Km distance in a time of two hours, 30 minutes and 51 seconds.
Parkrun - Saturday 8th August 2026
Of course, no weekend would been complete without a Parkrun, and this week Bourton Roadrunners could be found at the following venues.
Of special note this week Lynn Hudson celebrated her 50th Parkrun and Louise Colwyn her 150th; well done to both of them.

Highlights
