Challenge Gdansk Half Ironman - Sunday 21st June 2026
This weekend Bourton Roadrunner Maxine Emes made a splash at the Challenge Gdansk Half Ironman, northern Poland, in hot conditions. Completing a 1.9Km sea swim in 31 minutes and 30 seconds; a 90Km bike ride in two hours and 54 minutes; and finishing with a 21.1Km run in an impressive one hour, 51 minutes and 3 seconds.
Not only did Maxine complete the 70.3 mile event finishing second woman in the FV45 category, earning herself one of six coveted places at the Challenge World Championships in Slovenia next year, Dr Emes was also given a special award for finishing first medical worker overall.
Comrades Marathon - Sunday 14th June 2026
Also travelling for a special event, last week Craig Colwyn venture to South Africa for his second Comrades Marathon, known for its strict cutoff time limit.
Whilst Craig was hoping for a faster time, he completed the 85Km ‘uphill route’ in 9 hours, 16 minutes and 17 seconds; over 10 minutes faster than his time for last year’s ‘downhill route’. Craig commented that simply it was “incredibly good fun”.
Stow-on-the-Wold 10K - Sunday 21st June 2026
Nearer to home, Bourton Roadrunners’ Jemma Franzmann took part in the inaugural Stow-on-the-Wold 10K, which was held as part of the celebrations for the town’s 550th anniversary of its Royal Charter, granted in 1476.
The race was officially started by the Worshipful Mayor of Stow-on-the-Wold, our very own Alison Tighe. Jemma finished in a time of 60 minutes and 27 seconds in very warm conditions.
West Mani Sports Festival - Satureday 20th June 2026
Viv D’Alton took part in the West Mani Sports Festival, in Messinian Mani, Greece, where she ran in the 10.8Km run, finishing in a time of 66 minutes and 36 seconds
Newmarket 10K - Sunday 21st June 2026
New member Duncan Lambourne ventured to the market town of Newmarket in Suffolk for the Newmarket 10K, joining just over 130 runners, where he finished in a time of 86 minutes and 4 seconds.

Highlights
This week Bourton Roadrunners were in action at the Gdansk Half Ironman, Comrades Marathon, Stow-on-the-Wold 10K, West Mani Sports Festival, Newmarket 10K, and Parkrun.
Congratulations to Maxine Emes for earning herself one of six coveted places at the Half Ironman Challenge World Championships in Slovenia next year, based on her Gdansk performance.
Congratulations also go to Steph Lane, finishing first overall again at Parkrun; this time it was at Kilkenny Lane Country.
