Buggati 10K - Wednesday 29th July 2026
The recent hot weather appeared to follow everyone around for most of last week, and on Wednesday evening it was giving runners at the Bugatti 10K at Gotherington an additional challenge.
Bourton Roadrunner Arianna Downs provided a strong performance as she took-on the final ascent up the Prescott Hill Climb in the last kilometre to finish in a time of 48 minutes and 53 seconds, earning her third senior woman and seventh woman overall.
She was chased all the way by experienced Claire Cox, who also had a great run, looking in control of the final long climb, achieving 49:54 and finishing third in the LV50 category.
Louise Colwyn completed the Bourton trio in a time of 60:57, with the team narrowly missing out on being the second women’s team overall. Barry O’Leary gave his all, battling with the heat and the final climb, to finish in 62:16, while veteran runner John Harding pushed him all the way to finish in 62:30.
Trails for Whales 5k - Sunday 2nd August 2026
Further afield, André Martins took part in the Trails for Whales 5k, a charity event in Provincetown Massachusetts, USA, run through the spectacular scenery of the Province Lands in the Cape Cod National Seashore.
André completed this annual event, which was well supported, in a fine time of 26 minutes and 59 seconds and well up the field, and can be viewed on the event’s YouTube channel.
Uffington White Horse Gallop - Sunday 26th July 2026
The previous weekend Lisa Braid travelled to Wantage, with her training partner Allie, for the Uffington White Horse Gallop, a trail half marathon.
Taking in the spectacular landscapes of the Ridgeway and the Vale of the White Horse, but providing plenty additional challenges, even for seasoned runners. The intrepid pair enjoyed the experience, completing the more than 21Km in a time of 2 hours, 56 minutes and 48 seconds.
