Welcome to Bourton Roadrunners Website

Guernsey Club – 26th August 2012

Bourton Roadrunners’ Club trip this year headed to the tropical island of Guernsey! At least it seemed like a tropical island, as their stay just happened to coincide with the few odd days of nice weather experienced by residents of the British Isles this year. A selection of options meant entertaining spectating and good support camaraderie for the participants.

Those brave few taking on the marathon achieved excellent results: Ladies Race winner, Shona Crombie-Hicks smashed the 3-hour barrier, with a superb time of 2 hours 56 minutes 15 seconds.

Next in came multi-marathon-man Steve Edwards with another sub 3:15, finishing in 3:13:20. Nigel Frith did well to complete, after a debilitating injury from mid-season training, and his time of 3:48:51 was very creditable. In her first marathon Steph Holton did brilliantly, crossing the line in 3:54:15.

Second and Third Lady Vet-50s in the race were Susan Hunt 4:00:44 and Jan Short 4:01:45.

The mixed marathon team of trip organiser, Mike Smith, Pete Scarrott, Sarah Harper, Mick Hunt and Shirley Creed ran to glory in 1st place. Mixed relay half duo of Dennis and Lucy Walmsley continued the winning trend, as did female relay half team Gill Carrick and Lynn Hudson.

Golspie 10K – 8th September 2012

Ewen Smith was busy touring Scotland with his South African running friends and couldn't help slotting in a quick 10K during the trip, completing the Golspie 10K in 42:56. The race was organised by East Sutherland AC.

Angels 10k – 9th September 2012

On the new Angels 10K course at Ashleworth, Gloucester, Steph Lane led the way for the ladies on the challenging, country lane, course. Taking the lead from the start, she never looked in any danger of being caught and crossed the line to win in 42:06. Other runners from Bourton to take part in the County race were David Pyne 49:27, Gill Carrick 50:03, Norm Lane 50:09 and Lynn Hudson 55:52.
