Gloucestershire Cross Country League, Tewkesbury - 4th February 2012.

In extremely cold conditions the juniors again excelled in the last of the Gloucestershire Cross Country League series at Tewkesbury. Rosie Mutsaars had a superb run coming 3rd in the U13 girls as did Felicity Darwent managing 5th in the U11 girls, winning a Bronze medal in the league overall. With help from Felicity the U11 girls also won a team bronze medal just beating Cheltenham Harriers with a fine display from Lucy Griffin 14th, Josephine Mutsaars 16th, Beth Boydell 23rd, Gabby Jones 29th, Isobel Hartley 30th, Kate Edgerton 32nd, Emily Williams 39th and Isabel Kiey-Thomas 40th. The U11 boys also did well with Dylan Williams 10th, Max Douglas 27th, Edward Butler 35th, Murray Douglas 36th, Alfie Dodridge 38th and Marcus Kiey-Thomas 44th.

Our seniors it seems with many either injured or in hibernation still produced some great results. Previous Champion and showing some strong signs of making her way back to the top was Steph Lane as 3rd senior lady and 6th overall.

In the men’s event Dennis Walmsley used his years of experience to finish in a very creditable 3rd place and 1st vet on the day and 1st vet for the series. Andy McCoombes had a solid run in 82nd place as did David Payne in 102nd. Norm Lane ran a very tactical race and was spot on with his race plan as claimed yet another county medal with vet 65 silver.

Susan Hunt’s season continues to improve with another PB in the 4th of the 5 race extremely challenging threshold series as she moved into 3rd position overall with one race to go in the series.
