Bugatti 10K – 3rd August 2011

As seems to be the normal for the past few years, the Bugatti 10K was held in humid conditions, which caused some discomfort amongst the racers. John Parker of CLC was in a league of his own, way ahead of everyone, but leading the chasing pack in was Bourton’s Mike Smith. Mike finished a clear 2nd ahead of Anthony Bailey and Garry Payne, after a tactical race where Mike was confident to wait until the top of the hill before making his move and finishing in 35:49.

Leading the ladies was Sarah Harper, who is in sparkling form at the moment. She led from the off and showed no signs of being challenged for a clear win in 42:22.

Tony Goodwill ran strongly for 2nd Vet 55 in 41:53, Rob Humphris had a strong finish for 45:16 and John Raper on minimal training completed in 48:42.

Liz Hulcup, finishing 1st LV 55 in 49:50 managed to hold off Norm Lane 50:02 and Gill Carrick 50:09 who were in hot pursuit up the hill to the finish.

Jan Short 50:59, Shirley Creed 52:33, Steph Holton 53:50, Lynn Hudson 58:38 and Gary Holton 62:51 all found the heat oppressive but finished strongly.

Keith 10K, Scotland – 7th August 2011

Ewen Smith competed in the Keith 10K in Scotland (near Elgin) in preparation for his Guernsey Marathon next Sunday, with a strong run, finishing 2nd in 36:10, giving him confidence for his race.
