Beacon 10k – 4th September 2011
Our ladies put in some sterling performances at the Beacon 10km over the weekend. Whilst Mike Smith provided another strong run in 34:54, giving him a comfortable 2nd place and 1st vet 40, it was our ladies who dominated with Ali Lane giving her best for some time - 44:49 finishing 1st vet 50 in a very impressive 44:49, with daughter Steph as 1st under-20 in 43:22.
Liz Hulcup was again as 1st vet 55 in 48:08, with a strong-finishing Lyn Hudson in 57:00. Our other male athletes were Ewen Smith 37:40, Rob Humphries in 45:06 and John Raper in 46:12.
Wolverhampton Marathon – 4th September 2011
Steve Edwards has overcome his latest injuries, with conditions looking good, he decided to go out at sub-3:15 pace despite the fact Wolverhampton is much more undulating than Guernsey. Perfect timing to halfway with 1:37 and eventually crossed the finish line in 3:13:35 for 29th place, so Steve was quite happy with that. Its his 460th sub-3:30 towards the goal of 500; 40 to go!
