Isle of Man Marathon & Half – 14th August 2011

Mike Smith recorded his first "International" victory at the Isle of Man half marathon in tough and windy conditions. Mike used his experience running a tactical race timing his sprint finish to perfection in a winning time of 1 hour 15 minutes 42 seconds.

Club-mate Ewen Smith took part in the Marathon and although once again came close to breaking the 3-hour-mark had a good run, finishing 6th and 2nd vet 40 in a PB of 3 hours 1 minute 57 seconds.


Hook Norton 6 Miles – 14th August 2011

A good turnout of Bourton Roadrunners took on the Hooky 6 mile with a field of quality athletes. Conor Shoemark continues to impress in 35 minutes 59 seconds as our first runner in 21st position and first junior. Shona Crombie-Hicks had another strong run as 2nd lady in 36:26.

Lucy Walmsley continued her form as 3rd vet in 39 minutes. Andy Peaston and Nigel Frith performed well in 40:34 and 41:10 repectivly. Niamh Shoemark had a great run in 41:59, securing Bourton the ladies team prize.

Steph Lane easing her way back had a solid run in 42:54. Other finishers on the day were consistant Rob Humphries 43:23; Norm "evergreen" Lane 46:35; Liz Hulcup 1st vet55 47:03; Susan Hunt 47:52; relaxed Steph Holton 48:36; Gill Carrick running so much stronger in 48:38; improving Ester Phipp (watch out the rest of you) 50:14; on the way back Lyn Hudson 55:34 and good effort Gary Holton 59:30.
