Gloucestershire Cross-country League - Bourton - 9th Octoberber 2010

After years of sunshine at the first of the Gloucestershire League fixtures at The Cotswold Farm Park near Guiting Power, the weather failed us and bitter winds chilled those who attended expecting the forecast 23 degrees of sunshine. Fortunately this did not deter from the success of the day and the large numbers attending.

The Under 11 Girls started the racing schedule with a strong Bourton squad of Eva Shoemark 11th, Felicity Darwent 14th, Laura Heming 23rd and Isobel Hartley 24th, making them the 6th team. A good solid start to the season.

In the Under 11 Boys Tom Pudifoot led the team home in 7th place, supported by Dylan Williams 26th and Daniel Bufton 37th. Again, giving them 6th Team place.

In the Under 13 Girls Charlotte Hartley was unsupported but had an excellent race for 18th place and Alex Darwent in the same situation in the Under 13 Boys finished 29th.

Corrigan Cox had a superb race for 2nd place in the Under 15 Girls and the Under 15 boys of Matt Heming 23rd, Peter Marchant 24th, Finn Shoemark 26th and Benjamin Darwent 27th. The team was .... yes 6th!

Beth Pudifoot finished an excellent 4th in the Under 17 Girls, well-supported by Beth Wynn 9th.

Conor Shoemark in the Under 17s looked good for 11th position.

In the Senior Ladies, Lucy Walmsley tracked Sarah Harper throughout the race, and her stronger finish gave her 13th to Sarah's 14th with 6 seconds between them. Pauline Teague, LV50 made up the scoring team in 61st position. Susan Hunt, not far behind in 70th place, held off new club member, Kay Harper in a creditable 79th position. The team overall finished 8th, and 4th in the Vets.

Mike Smith, on tired legs after his marathon masters victory the week before in Jersey, still performed strongly to lead the men home in 17th place and 3rd MV40. A superb run by Lewis Gray, just 17 and in his first year of the Senior Men's Race, put him in the top 20. The improving Tim Heming had an excellent 36th, Dennis Walmsley 58th, Ewen Smith 82nd and Vet 50 Tony Goodwill made up the 7th scoring team. Other Bourton finishers were Chris Hartley 99th, Junior Man, James Outhwaite 104th, Phil Richardson 114th, Neil Teague 124th, Richard Bufton 145th, 2nd Vet 65 Norm Lane 154th and David Marchant 163rd.

Clearworth Tenovus 10-10-10 10k - 10th Octoberber 2010

Four Bourton Roadrunners knew exactly where they were at 10 seconds, past 10 minutes, on the 10th of the 10th 2010, as they were starting the Clearworth Tenovus 101010 around Cirencester Park.

Andy Chapple, returning from injury, was second in the 10K at Cirencester Park, with a time of 40:23. Louise Pudifoot achieved her first race win, as she crossed the line in 1st Lady spot with a time of 47:32 and the first Bourton Roadrunner couple to finish were Claire and Andy Peaston in 65:24.

Unbelievably well up in the race was Fred Robson of Cirencester who is actually 80 years old in a time of 64:51. What a fantastic achievement. I know he's not part of Bourton Roadrunners, but I felt he deserved a mention!!
